Open Clinic at Central Missouri Humane Society
Vaccination Clinic from 8:00 am to 11:30 am on March 13th at the Central Missouri Humane Society. Veterinary care is vital for your pet's well being. Join us for one of our quarterly vaccination clinics to get your pets vaccinated, microchipped, or their nails clipped. You can also stop by and sign your pet up to be spayed or neutered (surgeries will NOT be performed on the day of the clinic, so if you are only coming to sign up for a spay/neuter surgery you do not need to bring your pet along!)
Spaghetti Dinner
The Athletic Events Committee, a sub-committee of the Jefferson City Convention and Visitors Bureau, will host its annual spaghetti dinner at 6 p.m. on Friday, March 12 at the Eagles Club, 1411 Missouri Boulevard.
Tickets are $30 per couple and include meat and meatless spaghetti, beer and soda. Cash prizes ranging from $100 to $1,000 are awarded to several ticket owners; a variety of door prizes are given away during the event as well. A silent auction and a 50/50 raffle will also take place throughout the evening.
This fundraiser allows the Athletic Events Committee to continue its support of the attraction of new sporting events and retention of already existing sporting events in the Jefferson City area. These events, such as state cross country and state track and field, have an enormous economic impact on our community and are a huge benefit to the tourism efforts of the Bureau.

Missouri State Penitentiary Tours
The Missouri State Penitentiary opens its doors to the public the first weekend in March; for tours, of course. In 2004, the Missouri State Penitentiary (MSP) was decommissioned; in May of 2009, the Jefferson City Convention and Visitors Bureau began offering tours of the historic site to the public. In its first year, over 3,000 people caught a glimpse of "life inside the walls."
"The inaugural year of Missouri State Penitentiary tours far exceeded our expectations," said Steve Picker, executive director of the Bureau. "People traveled from across the country to see this piece of history. We have heard nothing but positive comments about the Missouri State Penitentiary tours."
This year the Bureau is offering an extended line-up of tours in addition to the basic two hour tour that was offered last year. Now, visitors have the opportunity to take a one hour or two hour tour.
The one hour tour is more talking and less walking; it includes a couple of housing units, the dungeon cells and information about some of the MSP's most notable events and inmates. The one hour tour does not include the gas chamber. The two hour tour includes a couple of housing units in addition to those on the one hour tour, the gas chamber and a more extensive view of the MSP grounds.
FAFSA Frenzy
FAFSA Frenzy is a free event where students and their parents can receive professional, one-on-one help filling out the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FASFA), the most important document needed in securing federal financial aid. This event is open to all students no matter which college or technical school they want to attend.
A $50 book card will be awarded to a student at each event. Plus, all students will be entered into a state wide drawing for one of four $1000 scholarships to the school of their choice.
