Rivers Cuomo gave Weezer’s latest album era a literal interpretation during an August 19 appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. The frontman arrived with his face, hair and visible skin painted gold, matching the theme of the band’s new self-titled release, commonly known as The Gold Album.
Cuomo appeared alongside drummer Patrick Wilson before Weezer took the stage as the episode’s musical guest. The television appearance came just days before The Gold Album’s scheduled August 21 release, making the gold look part of a busy promotional stretch for the group.
The Gold Album is Weezer’s 20th studio record and continues the band’s long-running tradition of giving several self-titled albums color-based identities. The new project includes songs such as C.E.O., Shine Again and We Might as Well Be Strangers.
Weezer is also preparing for The Gathering world tour, with North American dates scheduled for September and October and additional international shows planned for 2027.
